PROJET D’AMENAGEMENT ET DE DEVELOPPEMENT URBAIN DE LUANG PRABANG (PADUL-I)

Project’s Goal and Objectives

The Project’s goal was to develop Luang Prabang urban infrastructure, to improve livelihood of population which associated with socio-economic development and sustainable world heritage preservation. The overall goal was divided into 3 main objectives which formed the basis of this Project:

  1. Reconcile the socio-economic development intertwined with world heritage preservation.
  2. Maintain institutions in charge of Luang Prabang urban management. The first priority was the Luang Prabang World Heritage Office with setting up of a sustainable financial mechanism, improving its abilities, strengthening its links with related actors, capacity building of staffs of World Heritage Office and Luang Prabang Urban Development Administration Authority which will be municipality in the future.
  3. Improve local governance by assisting the Lao Government in cooperation with international organizations to steer world heritage management policies and to set up a framework for a sustainable dialogue.
