Vat Nong was re-constructed in 1804 and features a single nave and porch with square pillars. Façade and pediment decorations were completed by the end of the 19th century.

This ‘’Pond Monastery’’ owes its name to a 211-kg bronze Buddha statue miraculously spared in the 1774 fire which ravaged the town and the monastery.
