Vat Sop is a part of a group of four monasteries grouped along the Luang Prabang main road. Erected on an elevated base, this temple was constructed in the simple style with a single porch. The plain roof is decorated with Naga and has no spikes.

INTERESTING STORIES

 

According to oral tradition, it was erected by Thene Kham to commemorate the death of his father (King Chakkaphat Phene Pheo) who repelled invading forces outside Lan Xang in 1497 and subsequently died from his injuries.
